The Nevada Bar Examination is a 2.5-day jurisdiction-specific exam consisting of the Multistate Bar Examination (MBE), the Multistate Performance Test (MPT), and 7 Nevada essay questions. Nevada is one of the few states that does not use the Uniform Bar Exam (UBE), and Nevada has not adopted the NextGen UBE. The July 2026 administration will be the final administration of this format — beginning February 2027, Nevada transitions to a new three-component licensure process called the Nevada Plan (see below).
A passing score on the traditional exam requires a combined scaled score of at least 138 out of 200. The three components (MBE, essays, and MPT) are each weighted equally (one-third of the total). The MPRE minimum is 85, earned within 3 years before or 3 years after passing the bar exam.
Nevada Plan transition. The traditional Nevada Bar Examination will be administered for the last time in July 2026. Beginning February 2027, Nevada uses the Nevada Comprehensive Licensing Examination (the "Nevada Plan") — a three-component licensure process replacing the traditional bar exam.
The Nevada Plan (Effective February 2027)
On May 23, 2025, the Nevada Supreme Court issued an order in ADKT 0594 approving the Nevada Comprehensive Licensing Examination ("Nevada Plan") as the procedure for licensure in Nevada beginning in February 2027. The Nevada Plan consists of three components that can be taken separately and passed in any order:
- Foundational Law Examination (FLE) — A 100-question, closed-book, multiple-choice exam administered on a computer at a testing center. Tests 20 foundational concepts in each of seven subject matter areas. Eligibility: at least 42 credits at an ABA-accredited law school. First administration: May 28–29, 2026.
- Lawyering Performance Examination (LPE) — Requires candidates to complete three performance tests evaluating practice-ready lawyering skills. First administration: January 2027.
- Supervised Practice Program — A minimum of 40 hours of supervised practice under an approved supervising attorney or program. Includes a self-directed learning project and journaling requirement. Available after completing 42 law school credits.
In addition to the three Nevada Plan components, applicants must also pass the Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination (MPRE) with a scaled score of 85 or higher.

Eligibility requires completion of at least 42 credits at an ABA-accredited law school. First administration: May 28–29, 2026.
Lawyering Performance Examination (LPE)
Three performance tests evaluating practice-ready lawyering skills (legal analysis, writing, client-facing tasks). Registration for the first LPE opens later in 2026. First administration: January 2027.
Supervised Practice Program
Minimum 40 hours of supervised practice while in law school or after, under an approved supervising attorney or program. Includes a self-directed learning project and journaling requirement. Applicants must perform at least four tasks from a list provided by the State Bar of Nevada. Spring 2026 applications accepted through April 1, 2026.
Order & Flexibility
The three components may be taken separately and passed in any order. There is no limit to the number of attempts, provided the components are completed within the time frame outlined by the State Bar of Nevada.
MPRE Requirement
Nevada requires the Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination (MPRE) under both the traditional bar exam and the Nevada Plan. The minimum passing MPRE score is 85, which must be earned within 3 calendar years before or 3 calendar years after passing the bar exam (or completing the Nevada Plan components).
Score Transfers & Reciprocity
Nevada does not accept transferred UBE, NextGen UBE, MBE, MEE, or MPT scores from other jurisdictions. All applicants must complete Nevada’s licensure requirements.
Nevada does not provide for traditional admission on motion based on reciprocity.
