I took the bar exam in Feb. 2025 as an attorney seeking admission in a new state. I passed the bar 20 years ago in my home state and this was my first time taking a test in 20 years. So to say I felt like I was starting over from scratch and was overwhelmed would be an understatement. Pros of BarMax: Very affordable.

So to say I felt like I was starting over from scratch and was overwhelmed would be an understatement. Pros of BarMax: Very affordable. You can start when you want; you are not beholden to a certain start date which is GREAT for non-traditional takers/people who need more time. They have a very helpful video library on various topics. Instructors are helpful and seem invested in seeing students pass. There is a MASSIVE database of prior NCBE-licensed questions to use for practice with analytics. Nearly all of the MBE questions have explanations which is helpful for learning. You get all the MEE questions going back a long, long way along with the model answers. Cons of BarMax: I think BarMax is best for motivated self-starters. It gives you all the tools and guidelines, but ultimately, it's up to you to leverage those tools. It's probably not the right prep course for people who need a lot of hand-holding and who aren't self-motivated. Also, I did end up supplementing the course with a few free and paid resources. But given the low cost of BarMax, you can easily afford to buy an extra set of outlines like LeanSheets as a supplement. (I also used Brainscape's flashcards.) Verdict: I passed the February 2025 UBE with a 320! We had a particularly difficult administration, with the mean national MBE score being historically low. I was extremely happy with my score (155 MBE/165 writing), very happy with my experience, and very happy with the course. I would recommend BarMax to returning attorney takers who need a course with no fluff, and to self-motivated examinees on a budget who want just what they need to pass and nothing more.

I want to say THANK YOU to BarMax for all your help in my passing the MBE while working a full-time Big Law job, with no days off, studying at night after a 12-14 hour work day. (I actually was pricing an IPO the day of the bar.) Florida released results today and my MBE scaled score was 165! So I cannot thank you enough – your system for sure works. :blush: Thanks again!

Took the bar for the first time in July 2024, after graduating from law school in 2006. I was, of course, working full-time while studying, and BarMax allowed me to spread my studying across six months. I couldn't have done it otherwise. I also credit BarMax's use of exclusively released MBE questions with my success.

I would recommend BarMax to anyone who has taken time off since studying or who needs convenience or flexibility.
I can’t thank BarMax enough! I am a repeat taker after multiple tries and purchased Barmax to assist with my studying for the February and July 2024 exams after taking 4 years away from studying or sitting for an exam. I enjoyed BarMax because it provided me with the flexibility I needed, provided targeted studying on highly tested areas, and provided access to many different resources such as office hours, actual NCBE MBE questions, and most beneficial to me, a tutor! I missed Feb 2024 20 points (needed a 270), decided to stick with BarMax, studied for July 2024, but with the additional help of a tutor. My tutor Nate, was the absolute best! He literally explained the information in a way that just made it make sense! He would always provide context and background information which would lay a foundation to the rules and why the rules made sense! He also helped build my confidence which impacted my performance. I scored a 287 on the North Carolina July 2024 bar and I can confidently say both BarMax and Nate were huge contributing factors in my success!I would recommend BarMax to anyone who has taken time off since studying or who needs the convenience or flexibility that BarMax provides. I scored a 286, when passing is a 266. As a full-time lawyer practising in India, I had serious doubts whether I would be able to pass the bar exam. I was looking for a bar prep course that attacked the exam as opposed to a course that exhaustively covered the subjects tested on the exam. With a young family and a full-time practice, time was a scarce commodity. BarMax perfectly fit the bill.

One of the best decisions I took was working with Jennifer Carr as a tutor in the BarMax program. I wanted help with the writing portion of the exam. I told her that the multiple choice portion of the exam was my strength but that I was struggling to write in a way that the bar examiners wanted me to. She really turned things around for me.On the actual exam, my writing score was higher than my score on the multiple choice questions! Used the BarMax MPRE course as part of my efforts to take the bar for the first time almost twenty years after law school, and scored a 146! I tried other courses along the way, and much preferred BarMax's use of exclusively real prior MPRE questions. I'm now using them to prepare for the July bar exam as well, and am feeling great about my preparation so far. Highly recommend!

I exclusively followed the BarMax study plan leading up to the February 2024 exam and found that BarMax provided highly accessible resources and tools, with prompt and practical essay feedback, without which I would not have passed.

I went into the bar exam with a game plan.
I was struggling with the MPT portion of the UBE. I had one session with Jennifer Carr a little less than 2 weeks before the February 2024 bar exam and it was a game changer. She provided templates for the most common MPTs that could be seen on the bar, and she gave helpful tips on how to maximize the little time I had left before the test.

The day before the first session of the exam I reviewed my notes from that tutoring session. I went into the bar exam with a game plan. When the first MPT was memo style I was confident. I typed out my Jennifer Carr template like I practiced and filled the rest of MPT with the facts and law provided. I passed with a great score! I feel my score probably would have been even higher if I also worked with Jennifer or the essay portion of the UBE. 10 out of 10 would recommend Jennifer as a tutor!

I passed my UBE first time with a score high enough to practice in any UBE jurisdiction.
BarMax is an excellent program for nontraditional law students and bar exam takers because the content is accessible via digital (phone, tablet, computer) and hard copy formats. The ease of use fit into my busy schedule. I bought this program during law school and was able to use the content during my 2L/3L years.

I didn't have to wait for the bar prep program to open in order to start preparing for the bar unlike other bar prep programs. I really appreciated the real MBE/MEE/MPT questions, the additional tutoring sessions, as well as the timely and excellent writing critiques. Bar prep is grueling and BarMax made it better.

I PASSED THE BAR!!!
BarMax simplified the approach needed to get over the hump. I had taken the California Bar Exam twice before I found BarMax. I was failing the bar my more than 100 points. I took the BarMax course for my third bar attempt and scored a 1377. I was so mad! But I only needed to improve less than 1%.

So I buckled down for the fourth round and added Melissa, my BarMax tutor. Melissa worked with me to improve my issue spotting, IRAC writing, and PT outlining. I took the bar in July 2023 and during the examination, I knew I passed. I was so confident in my issue spotting, essay writing, timing, PT performance, and MBEs, all thanks to the preparation provided Melissa and the BarMax program. Thank you! Thank you! It was my second time taking the UBE, I passed with a 303!
My tutor, Jenn Carr was excellent, she helped me to really develop my essay writing skills getting me to the next level. I gained valuable insight on what needed improvement. I highly recommend working with her.

I loved BarMax.
It has so many different resources all directly FROM bar exams which makes a huge difference in the studying process. The recorded office hours sessions are super helpful for very particular issues on the bar exam. The whole process of understanding (lectures), memorization (flash cards), and application (questions) is designed to have a lasting impact on the human brain.

The only thing I’d suggest is making the iphone app a little more user-friendly for studying on the go. Overall, I’m very happy with my experience using BarMax and my overall UBE score of 305!

I went from getting a 250 as my best score with the competitor prep course to a 288 with BarMax.
After failing the Idaho Bar Exam twice using another barprep course provider, I did some research into what other prep course would be a better alternative. Reading through several reviews, I found BarMax to be in the top 5 in almost every review I read.

Reading through several reviews, I found BarMax to be in the top 5 in almost every review I read. I had not heard of BarMax during law school but figured at that point trying a different prep course could at least help give me a different perspective on bar study. I found BarMax prep to be more efficient at breaking down tough legal concepts in an understandable fashion. BarMax lecturers were clearly experts in their field of law and in my opinion did a much better job explaining legal concepts.I also found the actual UBE questions from the past much more useful for study than made up questions the other prep course had made themselves. The discussion boards and zoom sessions were also helpful for breaking down concepts and seeing questions other studiers were having that I may not have thought of. I went from getting a 250 as my best score with the competitor prep course to a 288 with BarMax, which is a high enough score to practice in any UBE state. I am thankful for the modern and practical approach BarMax uses for bar prep.

I loved how easy the apps and website were to use.I also used LSAT max, and referred one of my best friends and sister to it. She’s attending a t50 on a (near) full ride, and starts this coming fall.

Putting me at 60%, which will land you right about at the pass line which is exactly where I tested. I focused on my stronger subjects then did limited prep on the ones that gave me trouble. I figured i could maximize points in key areas.I took the bar with no sleep the day of, landing an hour and thirty from the test site. I arrived 30 minutes before, didn’t sleep that night, and still managed a 130.6 on the MBE and 136.9 on the MEE/MPT.I’ll probably retake and shoot for 270, but I passed for where I was testing w/268. So, honestly I’m pretty satisfied. Reciprocity is a thing so I’m not too worried about my score. And I can also work in fed courts.My overall experience has convinced me it’s not about where you go, it’s about what materials you use. These materials haven’t failed me once.My friends who didn’t pass felt like the competitors didn’t expose them to good enough questions. They used my materials in a few study sessions with me and felt like they slapped. They’ve now ordered. Im not getting any referral fees, I didn’t ask. I just want everyone to know how great I think this sh** is.13/10, good materials.

I am a Canadian lawyer, and a single mom of an 18 month old. BarMax and the team, specially Celeste, were vital to my success. I passed with 8 points to spare, on my first try. Celeste helped me to restructure my study plan according to my life situation.

She gave me practical tips, guided me on how implement the feedback on my essays and never let me give up after not performing too well in the practice exams.I do have one constructive criticism about the course material- the lectures are extremely dry and are almost read word-for-word from the outline which I did not find as helpful and had to supplement with the BarMax office hours (HIGHLY RECOMMEND!) and other free resources online, to better grasp the material (though this may not be an issue for U.S. law school graduates).All around I highly recommend BarMax!! If I did it with all of the life challenges I was facing- anyone can!!

BarMax outlines were a life saver! Do yourself a favor and get all of the black letter law you need with BarMax. I scored a 152 on the MBE using them along with the multiple choice questions provided.

Through his personalized tutoring schedule and study strategies, I was able to score a 283, achieving a score which is considered passing the in all UBE jurisdictions.

I can happily say that I passed the UBE with a 275! BarMax takes an unconventional approach because rather than giving you a large quantity of detailed study materials, it sticks to the most important and common topics. At first I thought that I was missing a significant amount of crucial information, however I later found BarMax’s approach to be incredibly helpful.

I come from Puerto Rico a civil law jurisdiction based on Spanish law and concepts. As a general rule we do not discuss common law principles in areas such as real property, contracts, family law, wills, etc.

As a general rule we do not discuss common law principles in areas such as real property, contracts, family law, wills, etc. I was completely new to those areas (also Trusts) and BarMax made it very easy for me to learn and understand all the legal concepts and to focus my practice in key essays and MBE’s to maximize my time and effort. The materials, questions, schedule and the office hours made all the difference. I scored over 290 in the UBE which allows me to practice law in any of the 42 jurisdictions!

I sat for the bar exam for the 1st time in February 2022, after graduating from law school and working in another field since 2009. Back then, we really only had Barbri and Kaplan to choose from, so I was overwhelmed looking at test prep programs when I started thinking about sitting for the exam.
I sat for the bar exam for the 1st time in February 2022, after graduating from law school and working in another field since 2009. Back then, we really only had Barbri and Kaplan to choose from, so I was overwhelmed looking at test prep programs when I started thinking about sitting for the exam. Ultimately, I chose BarMax because they release all materials as soon as you purchase, only use NCBE-released MBE questions, include 10 graded essays, and their schedule/approach is more flexible for non-traditional bar takers. I studied for 5 months while working full-time, with young kids and a military husband that is often away. I also hired a tutor through BarMax to work on writing skills and more difficult MEE topics. I passed the UBE with plenty of room to spare, and didn't need to use any supplemental resources. I went through Barbri in 2009 before ultimately withdrawing from the exam, and this was a completely different experience. Although it was obviously stressful this time around, it was manageable and not nearly as miserable. In addition to only using "real" questions, I think it was also BarMax's focus on active open-book studying and reviewing past MEE essays that led me to be successful. I absolutely would recommend BarMax for the UBE!

I used BarMax to pass the CA attorney exam 3 years ago. I decided to take the Oregon UBE, because I now live here. I just took the Feb 2022 exam, and had very little time to study.

I used BarMax to pass the CA attorney exam 3 years ago. I decided to take the Oregon UBE, because I now live here. I just took the Feb 2022 exam, and had very little time to study. If I do pass, it's solely because of BarMax. They prepared me to have a fighting chance! They are very comprehensive and that makes the difference. You need to have lectures, flash cards, outlines, and practice essays that are graded with sincere constructive criticism. You can find courses with a few programs that you need, but only BarMax, to my knowledge, has all you need to succeed. I am grateful to BarMax!!!! And, Arthur Miller's lecture on Civil Procedure--it's magical.

Just what you need, great tips and no extra stuff. I recommend this course especially for someone who cannot devote all day everyday to studying because of other life responsibilities. I decided to take a bar for another state for career optionally and to take advantage of the remote COVID bar offering (finding a positive opportunity in the midst of the pandemic) to allow me to take a bar for a state across the country, and 20+ years after my last bar exam. I was also working full time at a big law job and could take no time off so was studying late at night and on weekends when I was not working. BarMax did not offer the particular state law course for my state but I used it for the MBE and MPRE portions as I wanted maximum studying efficiency for those portions and it worked! I don't practice in any area tested on the bar so had to relearn all of it. As soon as I signed up I got a call from them to discuss how to use the course, if I had questions, etc., which was great. I scored more than 30 points higher than I needed to pass. The materials are not so overwhelming as other courses and you can focus on just what you need to know with real test questions. And the office hour tips from Celeste and Jennifer and others are really useful and I highly recommend them. Like they say, you of course have to put your time in as well doing your work on your own study process with outlines, flash cards, whatever works for you, but the way they lay out the materials and the app and all the great study tips, including from past students, makes those easy to prepare. I LOVE Barmax! From the lectures to the outlines to the flash cards to the MBEs! And speaking of the MBEs, I love the way they are broken down subtopic. Makes it SO much easier to not only hone in on problem areas, but also reinforce your knowledge of the sub-topics. And unlike some competitors, Barmax allows continued access of it if you do not pass the Bar, without having to purchase it again.

Using BarMax, I scored a 304 on the NY Bar Exam (UBE). This score is roughly in the 90th percentile, and well above the pass rate for all UBE jurisdictions. I thought the outlines were really efficient and easy to use. They did not include tons of superfluous information. All of my friends used competitors, and it sounded like they were studying 10-12 hours a day for 9 weeks.

It was also much less expensive than many other services.Two small points of feedback. 1) A few of the outlines for MEE-only subjects could have been edited down a lot. 2) BarMax should take more steps to familiarize test-takers with the basic structure of the test and introduce them to prep strategies with respect to MBE vs. MEE.

BarMax helped me pass the CA BAR! I struggled with the MBEs and was able to master multiple choice thanks to the 1500+ real, past bar multiple choice problems BarMax provided. Although I focused my studies on MBE practice, BarMax kept me on track with my essay and PT practice.

I passed, so of course it's 5 stars! I'm a retaker, 5 years out of law school, and I passed the California Bar with BarMax. This course is great for self-motivated test takers. They provide a study schedule for you to follow without the Damocletian progress trackers that ramp up your anxiety.

They provide a study schedule for you to follow without the Damocletian progress trackers that ramp up your anxiety. They offer guidance with enough flexibility to adapt your study plan to your own needs (like working part-time in the morning and studying in the afternoon). The best part is you can purchase the course at any time and get immediate access to the materials. Since it had been 5 years since I'd studied any law, I knew I wanted to start early. My BarMax rep gave me the great idea of going through the course once just listening to all the lectures as a refresher. Then, when the traditional start time came around, I went through the course a second time following their study schedule with essays and everything else. That flexibility is a game changer!HIGHLIGHTS:The essay graders are top notch. The turn around is quick and the feedback is truly helpful. Even if you're comfortable with your essay writing, I'd suggest submitting a few practice essays for the feedback.The MBE questions are ALL from previous bars. This is another game changer. As my practice scores got better and better I was confident that that success would transfer to the exam because I was using actual bar questions to practice.The staff are great! I didn't opt for the one on one tutoring, but I was still able to ask the occasional question via the chat feature on the website/app. I usually got an answer in a day or two and the response was always helpful and friendly. I really felt like everyone at BarMax was invested in me passing the bar.CAVEAT:There is a feature to the program that allows you to ask a question related to a specific MBE question. The response time for requests using this feature is too slow to be relied on. When you consider the sheer number of questions they receive across the 1000+ MBE questions they have, it makes sense. However, on most occasions, the question I had, had already been asked and answered previous exam takers so the feature is still helpful. On the rare occasion my question had not already been asked, I asked it with the understanding that the answer will likely be for future test takers. I used Barmax to take and pass the Feb 2021 California bar as a first-time examine. I had a 13 year gap between graduation and taking the exam, and literally did not remember 90% of law school. My law school was no help because it had closed down in 2019.

I was dealing with homeschooling my 2 kids during COVID, running a business that was severely impacted the shutdown, but still, the program got me ready to crush it!-They only use real MBE (Multistate Bar Exam) questions so I was familiar with the questions I faced on the actual exam.-Their essay roadmap provided a workable template for structuring a winning essay on the major issues which was critical in solving my time management challenge.-Being able to listen on the go, get instant feedback on exam questions, having a narrowly tailored outline to learn from, and seemingly endless essay answers from past exams at my fingertips allowed me to stay active in studying despite the busyness of my environment.If this program could help me pass when starting from scratch, it can work for you too. I just found out today that I passed the bar exam on my first try! This even after being out of law school for 12 years and not being granted all of my required testing accommodations.I could have never done this without BarMax, and more importantly, BarMax’s private tutor I hired, Matias Gonzalez.Matias became personally invested in my success and me failing was never an option for him.

Si bien, todas las sesiones las hacíamos en inglés, dudas o temas complejos los podíamos discutir en español, lo que facilita la comprensión de temas para quienes hicimos law school en español y comparte excelentes tips para saber que es lo que buscan los graders al calificar. Matías no es solo un gran tutor, es un motivador y nato y un gran apoyo moral para enfrentar un bar exam.

I used this as my main study tool and I passed the bar the first time (studying really hard and long). I also used Fleming’s to study for the performance exam and I used Emanuel’s simulated MBE questions so I studied a lot. I found the outlines In Barmax were really good as were the audio lectures. Exception: the Community property lecture sounded dis-jointed.

Exception: the Community property lecture sounded dis-jointed. The organization of the materials was clear and logical. It is essential that they give you just what you need so that you don’t overdose on trying to learn too much. The answers for explaining some of the MBEs is inadequate and frustrating but I heard it is still better than competing products. I found the flash cards to be inadequate at first Because the question part didn’t prompt the answer asked for on the other side but my understanding is that they are improving the flash cards; they were half done improving the flash cards in October of 2020, they may be done with that now. Although I only give it 4 stars, I don’t think that there is a better system overall.

After taking the July and February bar exam and had mpt/mee scores of 120, I decided that I needed a tutor. After watching a free session that bar max had, I decided I wanted to purchase tutoring through them. I worked with Celeste for 21 sessions. Celeste was amazing to work with and helped me so much. She even helped me get my test gitters out.My mpt/ mee score increased 20 points!

I have been out of law school for 15 years and found myself moving to a state that didn't have reciprocity with the places I had practiced law before. Full time job, coordinating an out of state move, and caring for 3 children...I completed the class. I left the bar exam not knowing how I did but certain that I couldn't have been any better prepared.

I left the bar exam not knowing how I did but certain that I couldn't have been any better prepared. I was delighted to find out my score was more than 50 points above what I needed to pass. Amazing program that I thought was better than the much more expensive course I took back in 2005.

After failing the Bar repeatedly using another Bar Prep Course, I passed after switching over to BarMax. This was the best decision I could have made for myself and my future. BarMax, unlike other prep courses, enabled me to continue to work full time without filling burned out everyday and successfully pass the July 2019 UBE.

I only needed my score to increase a few points, but I actually saw a 20point increase. I am grateful and thankful. Don't be afraid to step out of the "Bar Prep Course Norm" and try BarMax.

However, I've been enrolled in a number of Bar exam material, and BarMax is clearly the best resources available. I'm very confident that I'll pass on the first with this Bar exam material. The BarMax is an incredible way to study for the Bar exam. I think that the reason most people fail is the exam is because they have spent less time with practicing the exam questions. I think it is the case that students that we need to go through at least the 1800 questions, to learn the rules of law, and to see how the bar examiners repeat the particular issues on the bar exam. That is essentially what borrow max has provided the student, both the bar exam questions, the excellent interpretation of the rationale behind each question, plus the audio lectures and flashcards that will help supplement the actual practice a bar exam questions. I also believe that if you talk to students who have not passed the bar exam it's because they have not gone through the questions as extensively as a BarMax has provided that excellent opportunity. Bar Max is not an excellent job. All the information is there. I highly recommend BarMax as the one and the only place to shop: the one stop shopping!

Well Worth the Money. I was honestly very happy with BarMax as my choice for my bar prep course! I used BarMax to study for the MPRE after narrowly missing the score needed for my state. After using BarMax to study for the MPRE, I improved my score by 25 points, scoring above and beyond what is required for any jurisdiction.

Based on this, I made the decision to use BarMax for the New York July 2018 bar exam. The lectures were just what you needed to know, none of the extra fluff. I loved having access to an abundance of MPT and MEE questions and answers. They essay scoring service was very insightful! The colander was very easy to stay on track and allowed for plenty of time to review. My favorite feature was the MBE portion of the course. BarMax provides you with actual questions released by the Board of Law Examiners, not questions drafted for the course. Therefore, the MBE questions were like the ones on the actual bar. Because of BarMax, I was able to pass the NY bar and score high enough to be able to transfer my UBE score to the majority of accepting jurisdictions.

I first used BarMax in 2015 when taking the California bar exam right after graduation. I am now using it again to take the UBE in Feb. 2019. I didn't even look at other Bar Prep courses because of how positive my 2015 experience was with BarMax.

I didn't even look at other Bar Prep courses because of how positive my 2015 experience was with BarMax. While my Barbri and Kaplan counterparts were drowning in lectures and insurmountable workloads, I was studying from 9-5, on my own schedule, with minimal lectures, and spending my evenings living life. I can honestly say my Bar prep that summer was stress free. It was not the hell everyone warns you about. This is the perfect prep course for anyone with enough motivation and confidence to study a little more independently. The price is fantastic compared to the more "mainstream" Bar Prep courses - and in my opinion, the material is better.

Passed the July 2018 NJ bar exam with a 149.1 MBE and a 289 UBE. As a working parent and husband, I walked out of the exam thinking "well, I was prepared for everything I saw." I wanted to thank you for your excellent product and team. I can't more highly recommend BarMax.
